Does anyone of close up pics of the 1st and 2nd gen hood ornament/badge? We had one for our 84 Max, but some (#*@*^ stole it after we owned the car for about a month.

i dont think my car ever came with a hood ornament. If it did, then its not there anymore and theres no marks anywhere from where it used to be.

1st gen hood ornament

Yes, my '84 maxima came with a hood ornament -- you know, the indistructable type fastened with a spring and chain. The original lasted for over 12 years. Lately, it seems that teenagers like to rise to the challenge of removing it. I've lost two in four years. I stopped replacing it because I'm afraid that next time, some rookie will scratch my paint.

To answer your question -- I am looking at my sales brochure. It is a square inside of a chrome square border. The inside square appears to be separate from the border piece. The background of inside square is black with a nissan-blue painted border. I cannot read the chrome/white block lettered inscription clearly -- MAXIMA, I think.

I found a chrome decorative bolt at a hardware store -- let's see those teenagers rise to this new challenge.

BTW -- Does anyone know whether I can still buy center caps for my alloy rims at the dealership?

centercaps?- chances are that your dealership will not have them. They should be able to search the other nissan parts departments and somebody might have a few of them left. They will just special order them for you if they are still available.

Hood ornament

I have an '81 that has the original ornament that is different from the '83-'84 models. It is all chrome and somewhat rectangle horizontally. It says "DATSUN" in it. You can sorta see it in the web site below.

I had an 83 and it had the ornament intact after I got rid of it.
