Last winter My '82 rear pass. door froze open, but that's not going to help you. You may have to take off the door panel and get at the mechanism inside.

John's right. I haven't had it happen to my Max, but I had a similiar problme happen with my 88 Mazda pickup. I ended up removing the panel, and opening the door from there, so I could pull out the actual latch from the jamb of the door. I had a spring break. We took a pair of needle nose pliers, and bent a section of the spring back around, to hook back into the mechanism like it needed to. This was our option, as no wrecking yard would sell the assembly, only the whole door, and the dealer wanted an arm and a leg for the assembly, as they could not order just a new spring.

It could also be the rods that go from the handles may have broken, or come loose from, the latch. In eaither case, you need to get inside the door.

This worked fine for me for over 2 1/2 years, until the engine pitched a rod, and a junked it.
