Rev limiter

Hi all. Got a quick question. I have conversed with a few guys regarding the 300ZX computers and many of them snip the "purple", pin #29 which is the rev limiter wire. Many of them use a spade connector or a switch so they can enable and disable the limiting circuit at will. My question is, which wire is it on our cars that controls this function? I don't see no purple wire in the wiring harness leading up to the computer and am unsure if it is pin #29. Thanks!

I thought pin 29 was for the detonation sensor?!? er wait, maybe I should check the previous deals. Lemme see if I can find it online.

Link

Here is a link to one of the resources I had found about this same wire on the 300's. Hence my curiousity about the Max's.

Re: Rev limiter

I wouldn't advise this the rev limiter is set at 6400-6500rpm. With the stock cams you won't need to shift over 6000rpm max. What is the gain in removing the rev limiter? On the Z31 ecu pin #29 is the speed sensor. I can tell you from a experience that over reving will kill your engine. I say get a shift light and set it for 5600rpm with stock cams and 6000rpm for ISKY or JWT cams.

You're right.

When I first posed the question, I had in mind 'speed sensor', which is more pertinent. The deal here is to have the ability to enable and disable the speed sensor at will. As for worrying about the revs, ok, if you're going to racing at the track or on the street (shame!). :-)

The trick there is drive properly and don't miss a shift! LOL!

So back to the original question, which pin/wire on the max is for the speed sensor? I have to go get my manual from the garage if no one posts. It's freakin cold here today, spare me the misery. :-)
