Turbo?

I have a 1986 Maxima that I bought about three years ago with only 70,000 miles on it. barley broken in! does any one know if there are any companies that make turbo chargers for the motor? I've heard of something called a down pipe turbo that you instill under the car, but cant find anything on it. I saw a show of Trucks and they bolted one on a Ford Lightning.

there are no basic kits for VG30E like there are for Honda engines, but Z31 300zx turbo used the VG30ET, same engine as yours but with a turbo. you can either drop in a whole VG30ET engine, but with such a clean engine like yours you would be better to just get the turbo parts. basically, you need the exhaust manifold, downpipe, tubing, oil lines, turbo, ECU, and some other stuff im probably forgetting.

if you search, theres some threads in the 3rd gen section from 5ish years ago with info on turboing the VG30E with VG30ET parts, im using Z31 turbo parts on my 3rd gen for the turbo because its the easiest way

Hello everyone, just got my 84 Maxima about a week ago and have been working on it non stop.

It's really bugging me how they designed the mass airflow sensor though. Anyone know of a mass airflow connector so I can bolt a pipe right up to it?

A little bit off topic but.....
I have a question about gaining a little extra performance out of my 82 max 5-speed.
The only problem is that it has the LD28.

you could do a turbodiesel setup!

you need a flange adapter to use the l28et exhaust manifold and put a T3 turbo off a mercedes turbodiesel car like a 300 or something

Easiest thing to do is open up the exhaust and the intake. Cold air intake will give you better throttle response and let the motor make more power than the same mod makes on a naturally aspirated motor due to the way diesels work. Larger diameter exhaust and a free flowing muffler will help as well.

Other than that, there's not much you can do short of a turbo conversion. This is not something I would recommend for a novice on their daily driver.
