if your legrand is turboed already then it should drop right in your lucky if you have the 2.0l turbo motor because youll have all the mounts worked out all youll have to do now is to alter the downpipe.

My 81 Turbo Max

Hello guys, just joined this awesome site because while surfing the net. I ran across this site that had my car posted on this site So I just want to introduce myself and show my old school maxima with a L28 turbo smog legal with a california smog certificate sticker on it. So everything is legal on this maxima. And I just want to apologize to the tread starter for hi jacking your post. I just can't start a new thread, the site won't let me. Thanks again and hope you like this old school maxima. Here are some pictures, check the link below. Thanks again

That white one looks good but those wheels rub like a *****.....been there with those exact same rims. Maybe if he used 280zx offset front and rear brake setup and front struts with the 280zx offset he wouldn't have the rubbing.

Might be selling my first generation turbo l24e 5 speed car with r200 rear.

It's high mileage with worn control arms that allow the ball joints to move a bit, has noisy brakes, chattering and worn 4 puck clutch, worn turbo that still works but it has reliably driven me to and from work 25 miles each way every day for the last 2.5 years.

It sports 15x6 300zx 4 lug wheels with worn 215/50s (225/50 would have been better).

Body has dings but no accident dents and I have tons of replacement parts and the unibody floor has no rust holes.

Price will be sub-$500 but I will take it to moroso this weekend and see what kind of offers I get after smoking a few s13s before releasing it here.

Oh and one more thing.......when converting a L28 from rear to front sump, don't drill the dipstick boss that looks like it would be the proper place.

The L28 block has two oil pickup tube bosses with the front one being blank since the engine was always used as a rear sump application.

When converting it to front sump, sure...you can drill out the front boss but you have to remember the oil galley still continues to the back boss which must be blocked off and.....................it passes right through the dipstick boss where one would drill the hole for a front sump.

The front dipstick boss is for use in an engine that was only drilled to the front pick-up boss.

If you drill the front dipstick boss and the front oil pick-up boss in the L28, you must shove a plug into the galley just after the front boss or your car will gulp air through the now drilled dipstick boss.

I just cut the pickup and turned it as well as extended the one inch necessary to reach the front sump and drilled a front dipstick hole where there are no oil galleys present.

For fun, the engine will be sporting the very racy twin dipstick look.

It goes in my M30.

Hello HowlerMonkey, I don't have any rubing issue on my maxima, never rub ones. My car is not lowered and I'm running 195/60/15. Also, I have another maxima, an 83 with the same turbo wheels but this car is lowered and no rubbing issues at all. I'm still runing the stock brakes set on both my cars, 81max and 83max. Take care guys

Strange........those exact wheels with the same size tires rubbed in my maxima.

I gave away 8 of them recently because I no longer had a car they would fit.

Now the early 300zx wheels will fit 225/50s and not rub.

well it looka like i will be adding to this, 5-22-2009 was the last post. Does anyone go in here anymore? My name is Mykol, from Socal Orange County. I was searching for a place to introduce, but i had no luck. Since i have a 1st gen Maxima, i thought that this may be suitable. So far i have been playing with sportscars for years, well since i was a kid. I was super stoked when I found my first RWD nissan Maxima. Datsun 810 is what i believe what others may call it. Recently I have accumulated a lot of networking and got this moving slowely but cheaply. Got sideskirts, fender flares, spoiler, Kaaz LSD for the r180 diff. , and recently picked up a 2JZgte motor to swap into it. im mainly concerning myself with the looks for now, since i have both an s13 and fc3s to play with while i work on the Maxima. im going for the VIP Drift style. in that scene looks mean a lot, and my buddies drift their 82 Cressida 2jz swap, Infinity M30 LS1 swap, and Cefiro rb20 swap, and i know no one that tunes or drifts maximas. mainly cuz most of them are FWD. no offense, i just like to drive RWD.nice to meet your forum, i'll post pics asap. peace Mykol

If you have a 2jgte, then you will need to fit the R200 diff. to the car.

The S12 200sx turbo R200 diff. mount and late 280zx C/V type axles will much better handle that engine without breaking.

Definitely not new to Nissans, in any way. I drive a 400+whp 98 200sx SE-R, and an '05 Armada (tow truck).

Okay well this is going to take me forever, just so that I can create my own thread

So who here still owns a wagon? Anyone know of any sites that deal more inherently with the wagon? I've seen VERY FEW pics of them floating around on the web. I want to keep it simple, and want to keep it N/A. I don't need more boost in my life.

honestly i think you will have trouble finding a Maxima wagon only site, the 1st/2nd gen forum is nearly dead already so i think this is about it.

if you dont want something fast, i would personally lower it and get some low offset rims, if youre into it you could even go bosozoku with it

There was a Maxima wagon on the final Pimp My Ride, not my style though. IMO Pimp My Ride was usually bang on with the tranny and engine work they did, but they always went overboard with the interior and paint jobs. and like with the interior, i want Sparco seats under my @ss, not LED's

i dont really know, way back when i saw like 10 minutes of it on TV and i was tired as hell

i wonder if the people who get their cars chosen for Pimp My Ride have to sign a paper that they wont sell the car for X amount of years? i would just buy some beat up rusty domestic boat, let em take it, act surprised in the end and sell it for $30,000 and buy a JDM R32 Skyline and drop in a bunch of mods

funniest @ss one was the guy with 2 car halves welded together, they couldnt fix the dam thing it was so unsafe so they just gave him a new vehicle

I remember that one. It's sad that he had a welded car... Even sadder to find out that the halves were different years.

Wish they could of given me a new MAX!

and he even let his kid or little brother or whoever in it, i would freak out just being around that thing. how hard is it to get a sh1tty real whole car like a 1990 Camry that will last you another 5-10 years for $800

I wouldnt mind getting free/cheap parts from getting my 3rd gen sponsored like JoeBoost did, that would be pretty sweet. problem is you where i am you usually need a JDM car to get noticed

what i wouldnt give for Nissan to make me 3 custom cars, a 1st gen, 2nd gen, and 3rd gen, all RWD RHD with a L series Inline 6 Turbo. Kinda sucks Nissan killed RWD off after 1st gens

theres a guy almost done a RB26 swap on his 4th gen but thats different because 1st gens are RWD and came with the I6.

i would say its very possible, both being Inline 6 there shouldnt be many fitment issues. wouldnt a RB20 maybe be better?

Rb20 is the easiest just cause wiring is easier, tranny is physically smaller, and motor is a bit shorter in the height department.

It almost drops right in. For fitment it needs to move forward about 1/4 inch from where the L series sits so i'm having brackets made

power steering and heat and AC are all easy to hook up... AC you just need new fittings.. I think the lines will reach for both PS and AC

man thats actually a good swap then, used RB20 for $500, good 1st gen for $1000, swap it in yourself and you have a fast car for $1500ish
