Strange scratching noise on cold car....
Strange scratching noise on cold car....
When I start my car in the morning, or after it sits and
get cold, there is this somewhat loud scratching noise,
like the kind you get when you turn the key the wrong way.
A new clutch has been put in as well as a replacement
starter, but the noise still remains.
The noise started a few weeks after the cold weather hit
and it greets me ever cold morning.
After the car warms up, the noise disappears....
any ideas of what this noise could be ??
thanks..

The scratching noise is the kind you get in the
old days when you turn the ignition key to far
or after the car has already started, or turn the
ignition key the wrong direction, or trying to
hold down the ignition key after the car has
started....
I know that noise anywhere....
Also, if you attempt to turn the key back to try
to restart again, the car seems to want to try to
start at that point but seems to stop abruptly.
This is when you turn the key back to off...
thanks...
