1983 Max problems
I have an 83 Maxima 5 speed and i have a couple problems with it. For one a fuel injector leaks and for the life of me i cannot get the fuel injection system off and the service manual is useless. also i've had a problem where after driving for a bit the rpms will drop to around 500 (no matter where it is revving at the time) and the car will not respond to throttle. any suggestions on either of these problems?

As for the dropping RPMs, if not the FPR, next chech the throttle position sensor. If you replace any fuel hoses make sure it's high pressure line!!
Good luck!

I pulled the fuel rail a couple times on my 280zx.
You have to remove the power steering pump and the front brackets for the pump. Take off the gas cap to releive fuel pressure in the tank. Undo the fuel lines coming out the top of the fuel filter. Unscrew the fuel rail mounts on the intake manifold. Then you'll have the slip the front fuel rail bracket off the front of the engine head. The bracket will bend a little. Each fuel injector holder has to come off. They are held on with two screws each. After that, I think the fuel rail lifts out. You can then replace the fuel injector(s) and put the rail back down.
It is very time consuming.
On mine, one injector started leaking and I just let it go for a few weeks. Soon after other started leaking. I would suggest you replace all six injectors or you might be removing the fuel rail again in a couple months.
