rust

well i have a very important question which im gonna post on both here and maxima club on yahoo, any info or opinions please respond quickly, i was trying to patch up my exhaust piping just before the muffler when i noticed a aprox 14-16inx3-4in hole in my frame, right below my trunk. literally rusted all the way thru and spreading i believe, i was told a while ago that these cars were known to rust away from the bottom up.....well thats basically wut im seein here, the other side is rusted but not as bad...should i be worried and jus get rid of the car quickly or could i get some steel welded to cover it up? im hoping i can pass NJ inspection with this. any info will be greatly appreciated..worst comes to worst and i decide to stay second gen ima spend a weekend swapin everythin from my 85 beige 175k to my currently retired two tone grey 85 253k max and get that one runnin again...
