1st gen head gasket

I don't know why the last one didn't load all the way. There was definietly text there.
Anyway.... after I parked up hill one morning my 81 wouldn't turn over initially, and a bit later after i got it started, steam was pouring out of the exhaust. Fun stuff. Anyone have any suggestions on this? I'm replacing the gasket without removing the engine, and i've gotten it disassembled to the point where i have a few bolts holding in the exhaust/intake manifolds and thats all that's between me and that gasket. Ya think somethin is gonna be all simple and by the book, but then you encounter rust and you begin to hate life. I took out the entire exhaust past the manifold just to get to the bolts on the intake. Every point of the exhaust was rusted solid. So, if anyone has some wisdom to input, let me know.

Nothing besides the obvious...lots of penetrating oil, and a torch could help to...heat it up till it turns...

Yup, while your there, it would probably be wise, once you get everything out to replace the studs etc for the exhaust. If the manifold is in not so good condition you my want to replace that too. Besure you put on some anti-seize on those studs before bolting everything back on....which you probably already know. Just gotta do like maxwgn said and dive in.
