I raced an 85 maxima in my 84. I would have had him if he hadn't had a rolling start and I just tried to race some rice, but they would have none of it. scared by my rusty behemoth

lol, betcha 5 bucks that 85 was an auto! :P I know there isn't a 1st gen that I've known that has been able to handle my SE 5-speed . Not that I'm ragging on the 1st gen. I've taken all sorts of cars and won, stuff like hondas, other nissans, a few 3rd gens (all were VG's), a 4th gen and a 5th gen, and then there are others that I've gotten my *** handed down to me, a bmw 325xi, a new bonneville SSEi, several 4th and 5th gens, a 3rd gen VE, etc.

You had me beat? We never really raced yet. :P Besides, with tranny, intake, exhaust I have now, and my UDP installed, I would of had your car for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!!! Nah, your car ran very nice and pretty quick too! Though we both have a trophy. We both can beat the living snot outta David's car easy! Now with your BMW, depends on what year...but if your early 90's, you would slap me around like a ***** easy! :P

Depends though...which year SI, and the mod's he has. I know of a few years even with mods that had problems keeping up with me, both off the line and in the long haul, though aside they were pre 99 versions. The brand new SI though...I know for sure it would be trouble for me to keep up in the long haul....but I can out torque them in the low end.

Well Ive smoked a modded Neon with Dual exhaust It was a very nice race. He must have had some other mods because we were neck and neck at the beginning. I still had OD on and didnt realize it until about midway, turned it off the car downshifted and I was about my front door to his front bumper then we shut it down. Ive raced an 88 Acura integra that was nice. We stayed bumper to bumper after every light turned green, lol. Then I beat a 2k1 4 door Civic. He was wanting it so I gave it to him and beat him nicely. But then he got mad and ran me off the road. Thank God there was noone else in the other driving lane. Whew! After that I told myself nope no more. Havent done any racing since.

now i am not liking these automatic comments....i got a auto '87....i've only had it 2 days and i have only driven it to olive garden and the rest of the time the front end's been takin apart to fix some body damage...any way...i've seen some auto do pretty well....like my friend and i took his parents mid 90's auto accord wagon....all stock mind you...and we were sittin at a light when a completely riced out accord sedan of the same year pulled up and my friend said loudly (all out windows were open) "should we smoke em?"....in the middle of my saying "meh" the light turned and holy poo....we smoked them good...then they tailed us for a few miles

"now i am not liking these automatic comments...."
"my friend and i took his parents mid 90's auto accord wagon"
"completely riced out accord sedan" (more than likely auto)

What do you mean? we're not hating on auto's, we're just facing reality.

Had to make a little correction in my last post.......Yeah I have a 320i and it is a 91 model, but still, oh I would have murdered David with lil' Nismo, (I sure miss her) I would have lapped David in a Quarter mile!!!!!!!

You would have had trouble with me still, Sarin. Remember I had picked up the 300zx ecu in Alabama? Too bad I didn't get a chance to install it before the timing belt broke. Now, put in whatever you like, cause I will stomp a mud hole in ya.....unless I screw up at the start and you tear me a new rectum...... I am searching for aftermarket parts as we speak......

lol, well, I dunno, I know it would be really close since our cars are almost identical. :P Either way, we would both be lapping david a few times!

I autocross when I can. I've only done two so far with this Maxima, but should be doing more this spring once I get my ignition setup.

I think the issue with the Mustangs - especially the GT's and Cobra's - is that inexperienced drivers are piloting them, figuring the car alone is all they need to be a winner. I waxed a late 2000+ SVT Cobra 5speed one night, with my 87 auto wagon...but most of it was simply becauser the 17yr old kid driving it had no clue what he was doing...

If I remember right he doesn't have her anymore. He got a BMW 320i, but he totalled it a few weeks back...so he's carless again.

The other day I was behind a 2002 Geo Metro at a stoplight
and after the light turned green, I tried to keep up with it but
couldn't!

I thought, Damn! I can't keep up with a Geo?????

There is something wrong with my 86 wagon auto, but
I haven't found it yet!

Tell me about it! I know my car has always been sluggish, but a Geo Metro?????

It was pulling away, but I hadn't kicked it into passing gear either...

hahahahhaha....a 3 cylinder motor was an option on those rather than the powerful 4 cylinder....it was some where between a .8-1 L motor....thats awsome....anyway I am thinking about racing mine at MIR next weekend since my fourth gen is under the knife right now....but mine is still slow too

My 2.4L 1st gen with auto feels like a 4-cyl auto to me. Very little torque and well, maybe some high end power. Not what I expected it to be when i first bought the car. (not running) My 280ZX 5-speed is worlds ahead of this Maxima. i think the old technology automatic is mostly to blame. Besides the higher rear gear ratio and smaller engine.
