Need Air Filter Info

Alright first of all I have a drop-in K&N Filter as of now.
I'm checkin' out other rides like ours with the cone mod.
I'm interested in modding my Max with a cone mod.

Now, the info I'm looking for is true details ya'll.
Drop me in with the 411 on:
What type/model# the cone filter?
What type/model# for the adapter to be used?
What is the overall dollars needed?
Where can these products be bought?
How to remove the stock box and its bottom screws?
Any other additions?

thanks. holla back please.

peace.

Re: Need Air Filter Info

Alright, all you really need is 2 things. A Nissan MAF adapter plate, and a filter with a 3" opening. If you go to ebay, do a search for 87 Maxima. That will bring up a few cone filters.

Installation is easy. Basically you need to remove the battery. There are 2 screws that hold the airbox in place. After you remove the screws, there is a clamp you need to loosen to remove the airbox and MAF sensor. The screw is right where the pipe going to the intake manifold and MAF sensor meet. Then you remove the maf sensor and airbox. Remove the 4 screws that hold the MAF sensor to the airbox. Then bolt your maf adapter to the MAF sensor. Keep in mind that you may have to drill new holes into the adapter. Then install the cone filter, and reattach to MAF sensor. You should be done after that.

I sold mine to gundamwzero. Take a look at his cardomain site. You can get the adapter for like 22 dollars at the most shipped to your door. I got mine from a place in canada a looong time ago. Then I went to 1 of like 3 or 4 performance shops here and got a cone filter. I cant remmber the exact cost. I never used it so I sold it. Gundam loves it.

yeah, thanx for the info. I hooked myself up with one off eBay. Just I gotta wait for couple of days to get it.

NOW

Another question...what kind of air breather to get? I know that by removing the air box, the hose that attaches from the box to a solenoid would need some kind of air breather in replacement. So what size & type. I saw some APC Intimidators Air-Breathers...would it do?

Holla back.

Peace.

Pretty much any breather should work just fine. You might want to do like Gundamwzero did, and cut that hose down so the breather sits very close to the AIV valve, but is long enough to flex a little when you close the hood. This cuts down on the noise that valve makes (which sounds almost like an exhaust leak...its a horrible noise!).

Yeah, any breather filter should work fine. I got one from Pep Boys, it's made by APC, the company that makes all of the ricer performance stuff.

where could I get the adapter from? I've looked and looked, but I can't find one. I'm going to call the dealer and see if they have one, but if they don't, I need to know where to get one
