Auto tranny shifting problem.

I have a problem with my shifter. If I have it on Neutral or Reverse or Park and shift it into drive the car won’t move. I have to shift it to first or 2nd than to drive for the car to take off. Anybody have the same problem? If so what did you do?

Is that damn Search feature down again?!? Lol... anywhoo, we've answered this question more than a few times.

You need to replace your shifter bushing. It's only a $5 part that you can obtain from the Nissan dealership. Mine is also busted (very common on automatic 2nd gens), but I haven't bothered replacing it. I've gotten used to shifting it down a bit and then pushing it back up in to Drive. I believe you have to jack up the car in order to replace it because that's where the bushing is located. If you can't do it, see if you can get a local mechanic to do it for like $20 or something. Or do like me and live with the quirk.
