Its a pretty good car to start with. It's got power so it can be fun, but it's a not a big loss if you wreck it or if something breaks. Plus, it's a car that won't attracted a lot of attention of police unless you give them a really good reason. Use it as a stepping stone.

my maxima is my first car. Got it when I was 16 or 17. Probably 17. I've put it through a bit of rough wear and tear, but its still holding strong. Had ~169k when I got it 4(5?) years ago, now I'm at about 219.5k and its still runnin like a dream. A dream without AC, but a dream. Picked mine up for $2100, but it had some work that needed to be done to it. If you're able to put some money into the car, then you'll be ok, but if you dont have much in the way of repair-money, you might want to keep any eye out for any major issues with the cars you look at (applies to all used cars, really). Maximas are good cars. They run strong, and they dont stop as long as you keep up with the regular maintenance. Hope you find a good one!

technically this is my seccond car...my first was a 65 c10 pickup but i didnt get to drive it very often...i'm 18 and dont have my license yet...i just never had the reason to get it untill now (and now i NEED it and i have to wait till the 22nd...of SEPTEMBER!)

its ok...you can usually find one at a good price...mine has 160,000 on it and everything works now (replaced A/C...its expencive but some times you can get lucky and some junker doesent know the worth of the parts...like me) except the passenger side seatbelt just doesent move some times..its odd...just make sure most everything works and the sunroof doesent leak and it should be a decent car...

I got my 88 Max SE as a high school graduation present from my uncle over a year ago. I love it and apart from a couple of problems that we got fixed or are working on fixing, it works great.
