Need To Restore 1986 Maxima

My Aunt recently gave me a 1986 V-6 3.0 liter maxima. The car has been sitting in her drive way for like 3 years and hasn't been touched. A rat or some small furry rodent has gotten into my engine and ate through all my wires. The little bastard also stuff my engine full of acorns and god knows what else. It is in pretty bad shape and i want to restore it and add some extras on it. If you have ne advice what so ever i could really use it. Should i just trash it and buy a new car or fix this one?

yes, you should trash it and get a new one. it ain't worth fixing up an old beater that's worth nothing. everytime you think you're going to buy something to trick it out, you'll end up wasting your money on something that breaks... that old beater ain't worth a dime, literally!

Chances are that the little bugger didn't get past the throttle body on the intake side, so that should be relatively easy to clean out. And on the exhaust side, I'd imagine he couldn't get through the cat either. So the engine itself should be ok. As for the wiring, without seeing what he has eaten, I can't say for sure. How rusty is the car? Without seeing it I really can't have an opinion on whether or not you should save it, but seeing as you got it for free, maybe with a few hundred bucks and some tlc it might be worthwhile? Can you post any pics of it?

With time and money..everything can be restored. I used to have a 54 ford car. restored it and sold it for 5k :P Costed me 300 dlls and like 1.5 k to rebuild...that was back then when i was in high school. dam I could have sold it for more oh well. I personally like to restore old beaters. Ive completelly and succesfully resotred an 85 buick skylark, 84 corolla and my maxima wagon. (still working on that) If its not rusted and the engine is bad...swap it. If you beed a transmission wich i doubt it..message me. I can get you a rebuilt one for aroun 150 - 300 with 6 months warranty. I doubt u need it. But like everyone tells you, you might be better off buying another one than investing in this one. Pics would be nice. Ive seen really beat up second gens drive the streets, but they served their purpose i guess.

.

Im also a fan of rebuilding older cars. Im really into Volkswagens and if i had a mid 80's with a straight body i would totally rebuild it back to stock. I say do it. I like the looks of people when they sit in an old car and the interior is mint, actually its so clean it looks better then their newer car
