New Gen 2 Owner - Tranny Swap

I've tried to look through this forum and other's on the net, but haven't been able to find more information than "yes, i swapped my AT to an MT".

What I'm wondering is -

(1) Is it worth swapping in an MT - or is there a better engine that is easily swapped in that's usually mated to a manual?

(2) Where to get a compatible manual transmission from (what vehicle / trim line?)

(3) Does the pedal, m & s cylinder's all just bolt in? are the locations there for a GXE?

If someone posted a parts list ect..., I'd appreciate a link to it.

ive heard that converting to a MT is alot easier to put in than the AT, but converting everything else (adding the pedal, making the hold for the shifter) makes it a hard job.

Ill look around some other forums and see if i can find anyone who has done this.

The conversion isn't too bad at all. The difficult part is changing the pedals and installing them because you have to cut out a hole for the master clutch cylinder (but there is scribed or something like that, so you don't have to guess exactly where). Clutch lines can be a wee-bit of a pain. I prefer the 5-speed, so of course I'm gonna tell you the 5-speed is worth it. As far as ones to use:

85-88 SE's,
89-91 SE's
95-01 SE's and GXE's, non-lsd. Must swap bellhousing.

This is a good question.
Could we fit a six-speed in our cars?
Like an 02-03 350z?

You mean from an 02-03 maxima? A 350z 6-speed will not fit. RWD vs. FWD. The 02-03 might fit, but if I'm pretty sure there are some subtle differences which I need to take a look into.

It's a lot of work. Some Maximas already have the hole for the master cylinder. In my situation everything just bolted in.

But, I do have to say, I feel it was well worth the swap. I don't remember exactly how much it was but it was less than $500.00. That includes parts from the junkyard and from the dealer.

Mine went all wrong..well everything was nicelly fitten..to bad I took time to put the tranny in and the warranty ended. I ended getting a bad tranny and now mycar sits at a shop..waiting for a second or third gen tranny. I got to drive my car when it was manual and I can tell you it is dammmed worth it. So many cars I beat whemn its manual. When I was auto..hmm it seemed to be a bit slower. You can peel ot nicely :P Just make sure to get a stage 1 perf clutch, they cost almost the same as stock clutches. MAKE SURE your transmission works!! This will save you lots of pain. Also You might need the manual; car's kat..i noticed some second gends have a weird shaped kat. I had tot ake mien out complletely. I think sarin did not have to take it out when he helped with a swap like that.
