Thanx!!

I'd like to say thanks to everyone on the forum for help with my recent smoking problem. My car was spewing BLACK SMOKE. It has been running for about ten days without incident.
Next is the suspension, then its engine time. There is a 97 max engine like a half a mile from my house, maybe that will work. You never know.
Just writing again to say thanks for all the help

Peace

What was the fix again for the running rich problem?

CHTS
Cylinder head temp sensor.
And the harness was replaced. It must be a common problem because the dealer had the harnes and sensor in stock. They never have stuff in stock for the 88 max.
That's what fixed it. If you have the same prob and you get the sensor don't forget to change spark plugs too. That really helps.

Did you have the shop fix it or did you do it yourself?

If you did it yourself, how tough was it to do?

How much did you have to remove to get to it?

Thanks!

My mechanic let me try it first.
Then he went for it. He took off everything just short of the timing belt. The rear cover was still on. He said he just pulled and it made enough of a difference to get to the CHTS.
If your not afraid to do a timing on your car you can handle this!
