Opinion on a 1984 Maxima

Hello everyone. Thank you for your help in some of my previous posts. I'd like an opinion(s) on a 1984 Maxima that a guy is selling for $300. The car is unstarted, has 156K miles, the tranny and engine are questionable, since the car hasn't been started. It also has no spark plugs and starter. The body is in very good shape with little rust (South Carolina car). Would this be a good buy or should it be scrapped? Thanks for your opinions.

Man I would love to get my hands on one of those. That car is RWD, and I think it has a inline six. Swap it with a L28ET,or a RB25DET. That would be sweet! Don't buy unless you want many headaches and like searching forums.

BUt if you want a project car go for it. Its seems like a sweet ride.

I used to have an 82 wagon, and the RWD Max's are a lot of fun. Even an N/A L28 in there with a five speed instead of the L24, and it'll go really good.

Goto the 2nd gen yahoo site. There is a link for zcarparts I think they sell hood ornaments maybe they can get one for the maxima too. Or you could always switch the rear badge to like a Datsun sign.

i have an 81 max wagon for which I just purchased an L28ET. I'm pretty excited. It has the datsun emblem on the hatch, too. I got the engine, tranny, turbo, ecu, exhaust, and just about anything else that may or may not be needed for the swap for only $265.
