exhaust manifold studs broke........

the manifold on the firewall side is leaking when i first crank up.

it seals up when it get warm, so i figure it is studs broken, it seems to only be the left side so i figure is 1-4 studs broken

should i take it to a exhaust shop, (i also need a new exhaust system)

but howmuch would you expect to pay for them to fix the broken studs.....

shoudl i tackle it myself.......

if i took it to the shop i would wont a whole new exhaust sys, it sounds VERY BAD , i might take a video of it clicking when cold and how the exhaust system sounds

i would take it to a shop just to take the studs out, then you get to drive it home with out a manifold....i dont think it would be too good for the car but i am sure it would be fun

your problem is almost oppisite of mine, mine ticks when it warms up but i know the front manifold is cracked and i am sure by now its blown a small hole in it

i dont mean to hijack but what size socket do i need to take the heatsheilds off again?

Very bad idea to drive without manifolds. That is how you burn valves.

eh valves shmalves

i was at the local nissan shop earlier today and they had a maxima engine on a stand for a demo for clean injectors/oil and dirty, i'm thinking of mabe making them an offer on their front manifold for my car...and yes its the same engine, has the plate on top and the same intake instead of the bendy intake on the 300z

sorry that was way off topic and now i forgot what i was gonna say

Yeah, you of all people probably don't want burnt valves....especially after having headwork done. :P

There will be gains? Yes, but don't expect kick you in the pants power. Will it be worth the money having a place do it.....probably not.

20 probably seems to be if you did the port/polish and a mild cam grind. I'm going to say the port polish alone might give you 8-10hp.
