Yea the 300zx should work on the 300C the engine bay harness looks the same and the distrebuter is the same one as a 300zx or max.
the only ting that might be diff. is the harness that goes plugged in to the ecu, witch can be wierd up to plug into a 300zx or max. Ecu.
All you have to do if it doesn’t fit is cut the 300C's ecu plug and wier up the 300zx or max. Ecu plug.
In order to do that you will need to have a molty meter (must know how to use a moltiy meter) the 300zx or max. Ecu wiring diagram (must know how to read a wiring diagram)
i have the wiering dieagram for a 1985-1986 max, ill try to scan it and post it (if i can figer out how to post a pic )

as for performans diffrences with puting A 300zx ecu in a max is noticabel.
in my max. (hope shes in goog hends ) i noticed better throtel respons, amother idel, increas in redline better fuel econamy and more *****.
the mods i had in her (max) prier to installing the 300zx ecu wer a C.A.I, a bored out intake manifuld to fit in the 240sx t.b. cleaned out the intake maifold, 20-50w oil, on the dot ignition timing, and runing 87 pump gas.
i would swap back and forth between max. and zx ecu's to check cheanges. with he max ecu the idel was rufer then withe the zx ecu. and no i didnot rewier anything just pluged it in

Thank you for the information.I replaced the ignition coil and the power transistor. I used the part numbers of Z31 300ZX parts to order the parts, and they were compatible. I still don't get spark. The previous owner had cut the capacitor and resistor away with the connectors. The parts were on the front seat. I don't know why he removed the connectors too, because it is easy to just remove both components from the connectors. I think I should replace the wiring harness between the power transistor and distributor. I hope he hadn't tried to connect the wires without resistor.
I took the information to draw this from the original wiring diagram. I forgot to draw the fusible link to the picture, but there is one before the battery.
.
Connecting a wire over the resistor would let high current flow directly to ECCS unit and I don't know if it can take it. Obviously the car can't run without the capacitor. My 300ZX ECCS I bought from eBay haven't arrived yet. The next thing I am going to do to check is the sensor in distributor.

I have a distributor from 1989-1993 Maxima. Any idea if it works in 1st generation Maxima or Z31 300ZX?

Any idea if the early Maxima wiring harness is compatible with this one? I am asking the same thing again because the car is 300 miles away.

Here are some pics of the distributor. cap is different and I don't remember how the Y30 / Z31 connector looks like.
