Replacing Brake Master Cylinder?

Has anyone done this on the second gen. I won one from ebay for about $10 so I figured why not. My brakes do not feel like they are doing the job that great and I have fresh pads and roters. Any pointers? It looks like you just unscrew all the lines coming to it then put the new one in....then bleed the heck out of it. I plan on having all four wheels off and the car on stands when doing this job. I also have a set of speed bleeders coming in today for the 87. Just wondering if anyone has any advice on this job. Thanks guys.

*also what is meant by 'bench bleeding'? I'm not sure I understand how that will work since you will not be able to generate pressure.

It should be pretty straight forward as you mention. Just time consuming.

Bench bleeding means you bleed the part before you put it in the car. This is just to prime the cylinder and elimate air inside the cylinder itself.

Try bleeding all the brakes before you buy a new master cylinder and see if that helps with your braking. Since you already have new pads that wouldn't be a problem.

oh, I have already done that several times. Even after flushing the old fluid out with new...the new is still turning blackish, so I figure the seals on the Master Cylinder are pretty much shot. Then I saw this MC on ebay (actual nissan/nabco part) for $10 I thought why not. I would rather put a few hours into the car than have a brake failure.

Basically you fill the resivoir, and pump until fluid sprays out, but before you release, you put your thumb over the holes so it doesn't suck air back in.
