No start when hot

This has been going on for awhile now and is very irritating. 1987 Maxima. The engine starts right up when it is cold with no real problems, the thing is after I have driven it on a hot day it will not start, or even try to start. I turn the key to start, and the starter won't even try to turn the engine over at all. It'll do this for about 10 minutes, and randomly finally start working. Once I get the car to run, it runs fine, doesn't stall or sputter or anything. So it is definitely something in the starting mechanism. I am not sure as to where my Service Manual has gotten to so I can't check the troubleshooting section. I also get itterminent problems with codes 13 and 21 which have been around since I got my car, so I am not too sure it has to do with that. Any ideas or suggestions would be great!

you can try cleaning off your hot lead on the starter, it could be gunked up, I would also make sure you battery post are clean.

I bought a new starter and battery and a factory positive battery cable and my car still had that same problem. It started out with it only happening when the engine was hot. But it progressed to happening whenever I try to start the car. I never figured out what it was but some people told me to check the condition of the ignition coil.
