brake question

so i was glancing through my little owners manual and got to the Vhicle Stopping Distance page. And while there i noticed that the wagon stops MUCH faster than the sedan, is that because it has different brakes on it? and if so, can they be mounted on the sedan without any real modifications?

I never noticed the differences in the stopping distances before in the owner's manual. The sedan has front and rear disc brakes with the independent rear suspension. The wagon has disc brakes on the front and drum brakes on the rear with the link type suspension.
