He could probably do it if he had the diagrams for both cars, knew how to read them and how to connect what to what. There is always the possibility, but it would be a hellofa job to do. If you do decide to do this....good luck.

Two simple ways to accomplish the talking system.

1.You are of the age of majority. Get married, guaranteed you will be reminded of the slightest operational deviation from SOP - not necessarily automotive related either!
2. Buy a talking parrot, and teach it to read the idiot lights. Much less expensive than option 1, plus if you get tired of the parrot, they sort of taste like chicken!

i know its very annoying, my dad use to always turn the switch off, but i want it just because its never been done before in another generation max. Do you guys know exactly what is needed to be removed from the old max? I can figure out how to make it work, I just need the parts and wiring schematics

i would think thats all you would need buyou would also might as well tear your whole car apart to wire it rightlets see for the many alarms.....parking break, gas levels, right doors, left doors, gotta take off all the trim on the doors, pull the back seat out to get to the tank, although i would prolly think that you would need to get a 85-88 gen max feul parts unless a fuel light comes on then you could connect it to that so it triggers when the light comes on, as for the doors you would have to configure waht wires go to which doors and its basically a switch, as for the parking brake i think that its connected to the weel and the brake because it dosent come on until you drive a coupple of feet with it on but if your dedicated to it i would spend allday at a junkyard tearing apart maxima years 84-88 and folowing and labeling the wires thats how i would do it.

That would be kinda cool to have that retro-tech in other gen Maxima's though...but like someone said...the novelty would wear off.

The talking voice box is cool. Especially if you have children who like to play with the doors, the voice box lets you know if the door is ajar.
My favorite message to hear is: "lights are on".

I have 2 85's...gave my daughter one...she loves the voice box.....most of the kids in high school have never heard a car that talks.....

I also have the Nissan Shop Manual with all the diagrams....looks like a BIG job to add one to a car...with all the senors and relays....

I also found the wiring diagram on Alldata at school. What a bear... I tried wiring up the TWO voice boxes I had... to no avail. Both are fried.

So if someone with a talking Maxima would be kind enough to record all the things she says for me, I'll have to make my own voice box out of those audio recordings. Would appreciate very VERY VERY much!!

Key is in the ignition, lights are on
http://www3.telus.net/vhead/photos3/MOV00402.wav
Left door is open
http://www3.telus.net/vhead/photos3/MOV00405.wav
Parking brake is on
http://www3.telus.net/vhead/photos3/MOV00406.wav

That's all I recorded, right door is the same as left door except she says right of course, and I couldn't get fuel level is low because it never gets that low.

That's fresh, I wonder why they did away with it...

Well, I'm sure that it would get annoying after a while. lol
