First question, I wish to know the riding height for a 1987 Maxima GXE? My springs in my Max are sagging. I need to know becuase the only springs that are avaliable are the lowering ones for all four wheels. I dont want my Max scratching the ground or me trying to avoid speed bumps thats why I am asking.

Second Question, Where is the Oil Pressure Unit? Do I need to drain the oil? I have looked in ALLDATA there is nothing there and same goes for the chilton manual. I need to replace it because the oil light is on and there is no pressure so its shot. Doing the work is no big deal even if it is a pain in the butt to get too.. The oil pressure unit costs about $70 from the dealer. Money doenst matter because the school pays for my parts. Thank You in advance.

no you dont have to drain the oil to replace it, if you have it off and since your at school you might want to check it out with a real guage....all data shows you how and the PSI with 10/30 at operating temp you should be getting

i am guessing your taking some sort of mechanics class right?

Yes I am in mechanic class. The school pays for the parts I have to do the labor. I t know the oil pressure unit is broke because the car reaches operating temperature and it still registers 0 psi. So its near the oil filter on the drivers side, is there a electric wire I could follow to find it? Could I get it with the hood open or do I have to raise the vehicle?

the oil pressure switch (at least on my previous 88 SE) had one single black wire leading to it. the switch itself was cylindrical, like a small metal can, about 2" in diameter. easiest way I was able to get to it was to kneel on top of the engine and reach down behind. it's right next to the oil filter. it ran about $35 from auto zone.

my maxima never had an oil pressure light, just a gauge on the dash that always read 0 cos I was changing the oil and accidentally broke the wire off this oil pressure switch. maybe you have a digital dash or something.

no you dont need to put it on a lift

i think i have an oil light too but i am not sure....god i should know too, other than my 65 chevy which was light-less my maxima is what i have driven the most in my life....thats sad

If you do ST springs, you should be fine with ground clearance. It's a mild lower and you still have decent clearance.

I do have a digital gauges. So it almost looks like an oil filter than and its right next to it. Alright I will have to do some searching than. Thanks a whole lot. Its not hard to install right?
