My first guess would be a dead cell in the battery? Will it hold a charge if you charge it with a charger, and the negative cable is disconnected?? after 24 hrs. re-connect the cable, and see if the battery is ok, or dead?? Earl

you'll know if there's a current draw on the battery when you go to reconnect the negative terminal to it. make sure everything is turned off before you connect it, and if you get a spark when you connect the terminal, that means theres a current draw somewhere. a more accurate way is to use a digital multimeter. use the ammeter and connect it in series between the battery positive and positive cable terminal. then start pulling fuses until the current disappears. that way you'll find out which circuit the current draw is coming from.

if you want to unplug your security system, pop the trunk. Look on the bottom of the rear speaker shelf, you will see a bunch of plugs, I think there are two on each side. Honestly I foget which one it is, but just unplug them one at a time until your Sec-urity light stops blinking. Also one of those plugs back there goes to your adjustable suspension. If you S-N-F selector is blinking then that means you adjustable suspension no longer works (if you even have adjustable suspension). You can remove that plug in the trunk as well to make that stop blinking.

I'll bet it the battery too. When I bought my Max it had a battery which was smaller (both dementionally and cranking amp wise) then what was required for the car. I couldn't let the car sit for more than a couple days without the battery draining. New walmart battery and no more problem.

why don't you just take your car to advanced auto or autozone. They will test your electrical system for free. That will take the guess work, and you will know what you need to fix.

I have had similar problems like you are describing. It has been the battery before. Also something not to rule out is your alt. I have had diodes go bad in my alt. and this will act like the battery is going out. What happens when a diode goes out is that power will now flow both ways from the alt. rather than only flowing into the battery it will also let power flow out of the battery. Its easy to think of it like a check valve. I would recomend taking the car and having the electrical system checked for free. If it is is your alt. or battery both of them are easy to replace in a second gen.

actually, the diodes in an alternator are part of the rectifier, which convert the AC voltage the alternator puts out into DC voltage. they don't control power flow between the alternator and battery
