Does anyone know? I think this would be a funky/cool piece to have in my Max if it were plug and play.

I hear a tale of a contraption that came stock on the highest of hi-end 2nd Gen Maximus. This contraption was mounted under the stereo and would give you futuristic readings as to how many miles per gallon you were getting and how far you could drive prior to running out of petrol.

Seems like not only a funky/cool option, but a useful one.

That would be cool. I know that a drive computer was an option in the Toyota Cressida from 83-88, I believe. On the 85-88 models it could even be programmed to remember a birthday and would play "Happy Birthday" on that day. I thought that was cool and neat.

Vacuum gauge on intake manifold -->> highest vacuum = best fuel economy.

i past this in the factory service manual...no not all cars are, some fuel pumps have a speical unit bulit into them to tell the "computer" and so it displays it on the thing on the dash...other than that i bet there some other minor wiring (like to and form the pump for the display)

It is true. Some cars had it. I saw two at a local junk yard. I flipped when I saw this feature. I mean to have that back then I didnt think was even a consideration. I dont know if they come prewired but I think it wouldve been pretty nice as a feature to have.
