engine or transmission at fault??

My car has gone through 4 different torque converters (1 from nissan dealership) in a one year period. These torque converters have been ruined with 2 different transmissions that I have installed in my car. I know that my car doesn't have enough power to do it, so I know its not excess power. My father asked a friend of his who fixes transmissions and engine, and he said it was possibly something having too much play in the engine(forgot the name he used). Is it that, or could it be something else?

Too much play in the crankshaft, or too much play as in the motor is knocking around on the engine mounts?

I asked him again today, and he did say it was probably too much play in the crankshaft. Damn, that thing will be a b__ch to fix. well, for now I am going to get another torque converter and switch it.

So it sounds like you might have a bottom end to rebuild if that's the case.

it wouldn't be too bad to do. you could probably do it with the engine still in place. just drop the sump, remove the crankshaft and replace the bearings and thrust washers...as long as the crankshaft journals and everying are in good condition
