How did you put in your amp wire?

I am installing a system in my 87 max and I was wondering how you routed the power wire from the battery to the trunk?

I tucked them under the carpet, by taking off those plastic pieces on the floor that you can see when you open the door that say maxima(forgot what they are called)

Routed thru firewall grommet, under carpet along driver side of car. I have one main 4ga feed to a distribution block for my 2 amps.

So where is the firewall grommet? Where does it come out in the dash?

If I am not mistaken, you have to drill a hole yourself in order to route the wire

No there is a wire bundle grommet by the master brake cylinder. You can do in thru there. I will come out behind the dash which you can reach to from underneath. Some contortion need.

I guess I am kind of lucky that I was able to use the existing hole of where the clutch slave cylinder would be to route my wires(since I am an automatic)

I too have an automatic. I was just going to use that grommet that was mentioned earlier but this almost sounds easier cause that grommet is a really tight fit. So could you please elaborate a little bit on the location of the hole and any other advice you would have on it? Thanks in advance.

If you have an auto use that grommet. I routed mine underneath the foot step seal on each side and under the carpet and back seat. Powers on left and RCA's on right side of the car.

That hole is to the left of the brake master cylinder on the firewall(with u facing the car) It has a metal piece screwed on there to cover it up. What I did was to drill a hole in that piece bigger than the size of the wire(so it can fit well). Then I wrapped the wire in that plastic wire cover that they sell at pepboys or autozone(so the metal edges of the hole wouldn't slice into it). After that I pulled it through and went through the steps that max88q said in the previous post(except that I routed mine underneath the foot step seal on the drivers side and under the carpet and back seat.) Luckily I have not experienced any interference(buzzing noise) or anything from running my RCA cables together with my Power Cable(I used 8 gauge power cable)

You dont need to drill a hole in that spot. Just unscrew the freakin thing. Its not hard. Thats what I did and there is a rubber piece that covers the hole... just poke your finger in the middle of the rubber piece and the thing literally should fall or open up. No drilling necessary. Oh and the hole is way big enough for the wire, remember that would be where the clutch master cylinder wouldve gone if you had a 5 speed. Blue sky: I routed mine underneath the foot steps as well. I only went under the carpet under the dash. Also.... the side piece next to the dead pedal needs to be taken off, just unscrew it for better access and placement of the wire underneath the plastic foot step seal, same for the other side. I would advise, as well as others, to route the RCA cable on the opposite side. I did not experience any buzzing when I had it routed like that but after finding out about this I did reroute the RCA cable to go on the right side for that extra security of not having that buzz.
