What type of engine is the 87 V6 3000. I know the 4th gen are interference. What about the 2nd gen's?

the engine is called a VG30E. It is an interference motor so you should change the timing belt atleast every 60000 miles. I have heard of a few instances of where the engine was at idle when the belt broke and the valves did not bend. Usually when you are at highway speed though, you will bend the valves and destroy the engine.
