bmw antenna mod

took the mastless antenna out of a bmw installed it in the max and sofar it works good for this youll need the ESG module and the black box both are loated in bmw years 90-96 i think each located on each side of the rear window pannels youll also need the antenna cable. a good mod if your antenna is broken or you dont like the mast look.

also while i was in the engine bay i found out how to take out the ac compressor and use a large belt to connect all the other items.

Do you know what's wrong? A compressor is $40.00 at a yard, and a recharg kit at any parts house is about $30.00?????????????? Earl

Well the recharge kit would be a 134a kit. Not as good as the original R12 if you ask me.

Actually the 2nd gen has one antenna in the back window....but whether it works well is beyond me.

I think you may go to the junkyard more that I do I only went to three different ones on Sat.

The way you have you belt set up is the same way I had mine set up before I bought at compressor from a junk yard. The only problem I had is that the system was more likely to make the belt/alt. squeel. Once I went with the factory 3 belt set up all of my squeeling went away.

I need to recharge my AC in both of my maximas. Nice antenna mod though. It would work good if you were shaving the antenna off the car.

I have a question. Looking at the pics it looks like you wired it to your rear window defroster. I thought there was another plug for that antenna at the top of the rear window?

So..you just rerouted the antenna cable through the rear deck?

Also, what does the "module" actually use as the antenna? The pics really don't clarify lol

First thing in a yard is to make sure the car you're thinking of getting a compressor off of has a charge in it! If it still has pressure in the system, the compressor is probably OK, and the car is there for some other reason!
