Sad ending for the 88

Well, my story begins after selling my car. I sold it happily feeling the owner I sold it to was great. He was too. His son talked to me and stated he was going to take great care of it. He did..... for 3 weeks. It all started piecing together when I noticed that a Pioneer head unit that was from my old 88 had appeared in one of the money local Pawn shops. I noticed this because Im currently looking for an aftermarket for my 95. Anyway, it resembled it to the Tee. But I was skeptical. For some time I would go and drive by the house to check on it, not visit but to drive by to see the car, he lived about 3 streets down from me. To see how well it was kept up but for about a month It wasnt there. Im thinking he must park it in the garage. But before he'd always parked it in the drive way or on the side street. Odd... Anyway, I was talking to an old coworker of mine and she brings up my old 88 by asking me what happened to it. I said I sold it. She was in shock and she was like for real. I told her it was time to move on. She stated she saw the car on a long bed tow truck and it was wrecked. She knew my car because with the paint scheme for my car it was hard to find and I was the only one with it. Plus she described the rims. Thats when it hit me. I sold the car mid August. She said she saw it on the long bed tow truck the first week of September. I was crushed, still am because just thinking of all the hard work of keeping her up and looking good had come to an awful end. It sucks. I had that car for 7 years and it ran perfect if it was sick I made sure it was back up and good to go. So, it turns out it was my radio in the pawn shop. My 88... may it rest in peace.

Oh man, that is some crazy stuff. I bet you saw the head unit and said: naaaaaw, couldn't be. My 2nd gen is currently being rented by my cousin for the next few weeks til he gets another car. I go to drive it one night and see the headlight aimed up in the sky. I almost blew up. I asked what the hell was up but he said he didn't notice it. I was about to give him a swift one to the guts and take my car back. A walk around didn't reveal any damage though. I got a close eye on him from now on. But anyways, what an awful way to end your car. You gonna buy the unit and keep it as a memento?

that is why I would rather sell the car to an auto wrecker or to someone living where I would never see it. Don't want the pain of seeing my baby all mistreated by someone else

Same here. If it ever has to be gone, I want it GONE. Seeing a car you enjoyed then babied and fixed yourself just to beat it up and then enjoy fixing it up again over the years, just to have someone else destroy it in front of you is really upsetting.

Amen.

It's never easy when you trust someone and they let you down. My respect and condolences, and best wishes with the new car.

i know its kinda shallow but if you do find it see if theres any thing usable.

i have noticed more and more 2nd gens popping up arround town (few first gens aswell) alot of them are about in the same boat as mine in terms of appearing condition, but they all run like crap. except the pimped out green one, i dont know what happened to it.
