Stereo Install on 87 Max
#3
If you order from Crutchfield they send the kit to install a "regular" radio in place of the OEM one. You can proabaly get them an any stereo installation place or on-line. You have to disconnect the factory EQ and leave it installed, but it doesn't look bad. The dash trim has to come off and it's a bit of a pain. I took the steering wheel off and it made it easier to get everything off without breaking anything.

You do have to disconnect the factory EQ. However since it's an 87, it might have the double DIN setup found on some 87's and 88's. That is the best setup and easiest to work with. If you have the original setup found on the 85-some 87's, then you definately need to keep the eq, unless you can figure out how to fill the space.
