Starter interchangability...

If I get a starter from the local Pull-a-part, and they don't have a perfect 85-88 match, would a starter from an 89 or later work? Autozones website shows two diff #'s, but they look almost identical in the pics. Anyone know for sure?

Damn, I misspelled 'starter' in the title...N/M, figured out how to fix it.

So, that's a "No" then? Damn, that narrows down the possibilities quite a bit. WE, thanks for the info.

You might have a slightly different mounting surface with the newer starters.
