draining the tranny completely?
how in the heck do you do this
i think that i heard someone on here say that you could remove the cooling lines from the radiator and run the engine and it should drain that way
i also know about the 1/2 inch drive bolt but i want to go all the way (got some Peptobismol in there somehow and need to get it all out thanks!!!)

you tranny have the runs or something? thats messed up.
ok now i am not to sure about this, pulling the bolt isnt going to get 100% of the fluid out of the transmission. the cooler lines might be able to.
if you doing it by your self i would pull the cooler lines off put them both into buckets (may need to add some hose) start the car real quick and see which one has fluid comming out. leave it in a bucket big enough for old fluid and get a bucket full of new fluid and stick the other hose, the one nothing came out of nor not much came out of, and stick it in there.
now heres the kicker about these transmissions, i dont know if the pump is a push/pull or just push OR pull.
if its push and pull (pull fluid in and push old fluid out) your golden
if its just pulling new fluid in your probally gonna flood the tranny
if its just pushing its going to dry it out and mabe toasty transmission.
after all that being said i really dont see much harm being caused by peptobismol and there is a filter in the transmission.
and to add to all this i am assuming your talking about an automatic

yep its an auto but it looks like pepto because i got a lill water in there would removing that olate on the drivers side take all of the fluid out?
remove the drain plug, then pull the pan off. I dont remember if there is a pan or not... Replace the filter while your at it.
You might be able to remove both cooler lines, then run compressed air through one of them to push it through the system, but i would not run it to drain it, you can damage the pump by doing so. Or..... get a vaccuum fluid pump with a hose that goes all the way to the bottom of the pan and take it out that way, through the dipstick hole.
Water in there is BAAAD! It could make all the seals go bad, or cause it to start slipping, possibly pump damage too.

i was cleaning the ares when i removed the cv seal i stuffwed it with a rag to keep the water out but it still got in i got all of the fluid out but my valve body is bad (i screw that up in a nother experiment) so ill go and get a nother at the yard 25 bux no biggie, it only runs on idle if i step on the gas itl stop acellerating and just coast to a stop but the reverse works good, glad you guys told me about the pump i didnt run it that long with no tanny fluid went to walmart and bought like 5 gallons of tranny fluid (5 bux a pop) and ran it through took bout 2 gallons until it turned bloddy red again so now i got a gallon and a half extra
i got to admit these are great project cars things are so easy to fix and cheap in some cases kinda scared to get a newer car tho with all of the sensors that can give you a headache i think that the maxima has just enough

What about your 240sx?
You said the same thing happened to it? did you have all your "tools" with you then?
That is more than 1 time...
BTW..I will be keeping track of you compensating Nforce on this issue..

Anyone on here that says they have never made a mistake in wrenching is a liar. I had a axle pop out after I replaced it in my old civic, cause I thought, errantly, that I had the clip locked in. Having an axle pop out at 55 mph = teh ruined axle. Thankfully, they are softer than the splines in the tranny.
I just thought it was funny, you suggesting a 5 spd swap, is all. Unbunch your panties, mister.
Only really good way to drain the trans is to flush it. Flushing these particular trans is a really really bad idea as they weren't very good to begin with, and I've heard nothing but problems from the guys that flushed them. Do yourself a favor, install a 5-speed. It'll take away a bunch of the complexity, and there improvements to be seen.
