Powdercoated Intake and Valve Covers!

Hey, check out these pics!

I finished powdercoating my intake plenum, manifold and valve covers. Im quite happy with the results. Should look good once some more stuff is done and all put back together.

I powdercoated the valve covers and plenum in a 2-coat candy red with a chrome base coat. Got a little creative with the front valve cover.

Im trying to Decide what to powdercoat next, probably the steel heater lines, timing cover and some pulleys. Maybe brackets for alternator, etc... Maybe even take apart the alternator housing and coat that.

Looks good.

You said 2 coat with a chrome base. Is it powdercoat or paint? I couldn't see the powdercoat holding up very well on a valve cover, with the heat mainly.

Not feeling the VG30ET and other stuff on that one valve cover. Otherwise not too bad.

Sarin, you need to lower that Volvlo man. It would look so much cleaner. Other wise on the valve cover. Pretty cool on the valve Covers. I would have had the other stuff powder coated silver though instead of black and red. Thats just me though. Looks good.

Can't cut a single leaf-spring in the back...plus I don't want the ricer hop...I'm getting too old for that.

I didnt know they had leaf springs in the back. What year is that Volvo? A 97, I figured they wouldve been alittle more advanced than that. I guess the aftermarket goes more towards the 850's and 850 R's. I had actually planned in highschool to get my moms 850GLT and make it an 850R. By the time she was wanting to sell it to me I was already into Maximas too far deep. I wouldnt mind owning one though.

Actually it's not leaf springs....it's 1 leaf spring, that runs parallel to the rear axle. The setup is actually a multilink setup like in the 4th gen, but a bit more complex considering its RWD. Unfortunately it makes lowering/aftermarket support for suspension parts almost non-existent in the US.

I would say the 850 is the maxima's counterpart from volvo...with much longer legs if you have turbo, t5-r, r-versions.

I figured it had to have ran Parellel because that freaked me out. Yeah, the T5-Rs and R's were off the chain. I really contemplated between an R and the 4th gen I have now. I maybe wouldve settled for a T-5R but the R's were dang sweet. I remember when they came out my mom went to have regular service done on her car and to get her car appraised to see what it was worth. She test drove an R and man it was bad ***! She didnt get it though because payments on it wouldve been like 800 per month.

The powdercoat will hold up to the heat better than paint, as long is it's not hotter than 425F. Once it cures it's good. I put all that stuff on the valve cover to test some things out, and it worked quite well.

..... I got passed by a volvo turbo wagon... in the mountains.

Powdercoating is nice, but it sure does take the right prep.
