So, here's the scoop. I managed to get my hands on an awesome 2.8L engine from an old 82-83 280ZX turbo. It has the P90 head and F54 block. This combo should prove to be worthy of a new build-up for my '84 Max. I currently have the regular stock 2.8L from an 82 280ZX but put the old N42 head on it for extra compression and the car rips it up like there's no tomorrow already, so I can imagine what it's going to do with this sucker in there!

I also want to increase the capacity from the stock 2.8L to 3.1L which I heard you can do with the F54 block. It has some sort of extra support between cylinders because of the turbo or something to that effect.

The project is just in the design stage right now and I'm gathering as much intel as I can before I start ripping things apart. If any of you know a good source of info would you please share? pretty please! I will photograph the progress of the engine and the build-up job and post here as things slowly progress. I anticipate it will take some time for me to complete the job as it is going to be a fairly costly job. Somewhere in the neighbourhood of $4000 CDN dollars. The mods planned for this engine will hopefully increase volume to 3.1L and produce roughly somewhere in the 300-350 hp rating area if my math is correct, lol.
Well, wish me luck and I'll start posting some pics soon as I start cleaning the engine and ripping it down for the machine shop.

Cheers!

PK_Zone,

Good luck on your project. I look forward to hear your
progress.

Now that I have my Acura 2001 TL type-S I'll be taking
my 87 Max SE's engine apart to upgrade it soon.

Mike
