I seem to remember a limited edition Maxima around 1986 called a Megamax. It had a body kit and cookie cutter rims and I think it only came in white. Can anyone direct me to information on this Maxima. I have looked on the web and on here but cant find any info on it. Can you PM me since Im normally not in this forum. Thanks
i think that i have actually seen one in chula vista once, looked run down too bad i was working then i prolly would of asked them if they wanted to sell it...
I'm not sure if the Canadian specs were exactly the same for the 1988 Shiros. I'm looking for one currently so I've been watching the ones I've seen. For example, the two local ones I've come across don't have a sunroof; as far as I can tell otherwise they seem the same. Jimbar.
That white Kaminari Maxima looks very much like it, but I think it is still a bit different. The rims were slightly different and think the body kit on the MegaMax was slightly less aggressive. My memory could be fading at this point I suppose as its been 20 years.
I actually own one of these. 1987 Maxima MegaMax. From what I see it's the same V6 3.0 litre engine as the other ones. I maybe wrong, I have great difficulty finding any info on these. If anyone has any info/specs about the MegaMax please let me know.
Funny part is one of my classmates parents had one back in the day and we had the '88 max (which I'm working on now) and I thought it was cool but looked odd at the same time.
I have only seen one in person, looked exactly like the one in the commercial too(color, rims, and all). only saw it from the outside, looked like it was well maintained.

The 1987 Megamax was cool, they looked good with that kit as it fit its boxiness (rims sucked). The 1988 Shiro SE was a different model, it had whited out stock Maxima rims, whited out other exterior parts etc to distinguish it from the normal SE. They also had a 1988 300Zx Shiro version with whited parts as well.
I also have a MegaMax and can't find much info anout it. I would like to know how many Nissan produced.
My Max was very rough cosmetically, but I have brought it back from near death. If anyone is interested, I have some pictures on Photobucket :

I have been taking pictures throughout the stages of this project. I have more that I need to upload. My progress has been slow, my shop is far from state of the art, but I have really enjoyed the working on this Japanese classic.
I will have it wrapped up this week, I have a 1978 Indy 500 Pace Car.Corvette that I'm starting on next week.
It's all factory except the rims and tire size. Enkei wheels & 215/45R 17's.
I have to say that I have never cared for Maxima's, any generation or Japanese vehicles in genetal with only a few exceptions and still am not.
I was looking a misrepresented Mustang Pace Car when I saw this MegaMax. Even though it was trashed I knew that there was something special about the car.
Here is the car on oddimotive: https://www.oddimotive.com/1987-niss...ax-with-video/
I didn't buy it from that guy, I bought it from the guy he sold it to.for $250 in the same condition as you see on oddimotive.
I really enjoyed the time that I spent on the car. I'm still on the fence as to what I'm going to do with it. I have too many cars as it is. I'm leaning toward keeping it for awhile, it's really fun to drive. Its fast too, it beats my 944 in the 1\4 mile.
I would like to take the time to thank everyone on this forum for the information that you provide. It made working on this car much easier for me. I appreciate your time and effort, I assure you that it's not taken for granted.

I imagine acquiring those parts will be difficult, I didn`t even try. It`s surprising sometimes what you may find stored at dealerships. My uncle had a Bultaco dealership in the `60`s until they went out of production in 1983. After he died in 2001 my aunt had my cousins and I clean out the building, it was like going back in time 40+ years. I made a small fortune on eBay selling NOS & used parts, brochures, advertisements and promotional items that were/are near impossible to find. So, what I`m trying to say is seek and you just may find.
Good luck
So my understanding is the megamax was only offered in 1988, i did some research as i had owned a 1987 se several years ago and wanted another one. while searching i also discovered a guy from texas who had a 1988 shiro and he modded it with turbo, which has a nice thread here in the maxima forum, the diffrence in the mega is the Kamari body kit, rims which i will keep but likely buy a second set of factory se rims. adding a few pics of Paul Noltes car , some interesting videos of his tuning on youtube.
