1st & 2nd Gen Photo Request

Hi guys. I've been experimenting with site banner designs over in the Photoshop Forum, and am currently looking for front-end photos of all generation Maximas. Very specifically, I'm interested in shots where the roof line flattens out.

Here's what I'm going for. Notice how the undercarriage and roof line are both close-to-level, the tires are clearly visible, but the photo doesn't have any wide-angle distortion.

Apparently this is an uncommon angle, probably because most photos are taken at eye-level. I've been trolling through the member rides, CarDomain.com, and even Auto Trader, without much success.

Of course, winter may be an awkward time to make this kind of request... it's not like people are going to go take pictures of their car at this time of year. But if you have something to offer, please post it here, or PM me for contact information.

Thanks!

Bump on this...

C'mon guys, someone in the 1st & 2nd Gen forum has to have the right kind of photos that we can line up next to these guys! I'm sure at least one of you own a camera, right? (Well, down south, or on the west coast, considering the crappy winter weather of late.)

Mine is a bone stock 2 tone gold/champagne 1987. I can probably get a pic of it like you want. Can you crop out the back ground? How do I post it in a thread like Big did?

it might be easier to just PM your email to me and i will attach a pic back.

PM sent. And yes, background is irrelevant. It's focus, lighting and angle that's important (distance, height, orientation).

Thanks, man.

Guys, thanks for the photos. My project has a 2nd gen image that I found online, and I think I've gone as far as I can with the design I was working with. I appreciate the efforts. Thanks again.

I appreciate the offer, but the design work is done and members are voting on 3 site banner options right now:

Sorry, arsonist. But thank you anyway.

Well, sorry I missed the deadline... ;(

Anyway, What you see below is a virtually un-blemished 1982 Datsun Maxima Diesel!

I've been looking for a runner for the last several years that would be a viable drivetrain transplant candidate for one of my 240Z's! Think "Turbo charged, bio-diesel 240Z sports car!" and you'll see where I'm going here. 40+mpg on veggie oil with ridiculous amounts of torque!

This example was purchased by a 62 yr old woman for her husband who drove it infrequently for about 14 years until he passed away in 1995 when it was parked in the garage where it sat for the next 15 years...

This thing was immaculately maintained by the local Nissan dealer and on the original owner's passing, her son put the car up for sale on Craigslist where an intrepid Rob Fuller, of Z Car Garage in San Jose and my willing accomplice, noticed it and gave me a call. The car was in Novato, too far away for either Rob or myself to get some time off work to inspect it. Fortunately, a friend and another Z car fanatic, lived only a few blocks away from this time capsule and volunteered to go over and take a look at it. His report was as follows: "Holy crap, this thing is immaculate!". At which point, we gave him the green light to get the car before some of the out of state vultures were able to snap it up and part it out for the diesel stroker crank on yet ANOTHER boring 3.1L stroked Z car...

The plan is to add a turbo to the existing car, convert it to veggie oil, and drive it to the Japanese Classic Car Show in Irvine outside of LA this year. Once the turbo/veggie conversion is completed, we'll swap the driveline into my "spare" 240Z chassis. This was the end of my original plan, but this car is in such good shape, I've decided to take the motor out of my 1983 280ZX Turbo and swap it back into the Maxima to make it a Turbo sedan that never needs to be smogged since it's registered as a diesel!

The car is missing one center cap and has some wear on the rear bumper where it looks like something was leaning on it for part of it's 15 years in storage... And that's it, I mean REALLY, those are the only things wrong with this car!

Anyway, here are the pics. Enjoy!

lww - You have a beauty! Reminds me of what my '81 Maxima looked like when I first got it from my grandpa in 1999. Sadly, Midwestern winters are VERY UNKIND to this era japanese car. My interior is the same color (gotta love the melon color!) Here is mine (photo taken last year):

Nice Max! If anyone knows where I can find one, I'm looking for a center cap to replace the only one that's missing on my car.

Good Luck! If you find any, you better hoard them. I have been looking for them for a decade. I had all mine in '99, but one by one they vanished. I rarely see one (on craigslist) that has any of them. I bet you lose another one before you find any replacements.
