Performance Parts (Most Wanted)

I'm curious if there was a company to support Maxima(s) of the 1st and 2nd Generations what are the most desired and wanted parts? I'm sure there not alot of people out there that care about these generations cause the forums are never really coming in and moving like the 5th and 4th gen Maxima(s).....So again for those of you out there in the 1st & 2nd Gen Maxima field what do you want for performance and styling if I were the company providing it too you all....??????

only universal radiators appear to be available for first gens. Even finding a stock replacement one appears to be a problem. After some comparison i found first gen camaro radiator to be roughly the same dimensions with the same type of mounting. As far as parts it would be nice to have affordable lsd options with better axles for wagons

OBX make alot of less expensive LSD and theyy can fit alot of different trannies.....
I hoping to find out hat the 3rd gen exhaust manifolds and ypipe can be fitted to the 2nd Gen.....And as far as that intake system it's so freakin restrictive a SRI or CAI would be a major benefit!

I got an all aluminum radiator at Craigs Radiator in south jersey for 110 the same day. It bolted right in and fit with no problems. Works and looks awesome!! and I think my max has LSD because I has both tires spinning in a burnout the other day...

Ain't nothing like putting down 2 rubber stripes.......My 03 auto does the same.....are you a 5 spd or auto? How many 2nd Gen Guys are running SRI/CAI setups? The 2nd Gen Intake tract b4 the TB is a clusterf**k....it's a curly cue maze that's about 20" long if you could unfold it.....So a short intake would provide a lot less intake resistance which in turn will provide better throttle response and more air ingestion....my buddy's 2nd gen will get experimented on while we either do a new shortblock or longblock R&R.....while doing that I will try to fit the 3rd gen exhaust manifolds and ypipe.....If they fit then Headers from Pacesetter will fit! I'm also sure that the 2nd and 3rd gen platforms are very similar too each other so the catback might fit as well!

I have a 5 speed. I also took all that intake crap out. And just ran a short tube to the maf. I also took out the aiv, iac, egr, and the pcv system. I feel a lot better throttle response and a little more Power in both ends.

IACV is only used for startups. Once warm, it runs fine.

So what are you doing holding down the gas a bit until it warns up?

usually a few secs until it catches itself. idles low but once it reaches operating temp, idle shoots to normal

It depends on the day but most of the time i just start the car and it will idle real low for about a minute and then it will jump back up. Sometimes if it is damp or muggy the car will stall so I have to hold the gas a little bit.

Lol if thats what you want to deal with its your car. Why did you want to eliminate it in the 1st place? What do you gain by doing that?

Doesn't the 85-88 AIV consist of a canister that is shaped sorta like a snail with a filter on the inside and injects air into the exhaust? My 86.5 Hardbody has that system, my original AIV rotted and the replacement has been in there for over 20 yrs.....

Got a 98 Villager I just pulled the heads on and the owner drove this car for a while during an overheating problem and eventually detonated enough to blow holes through piston 2 and 4....I'll replace this engine but keep the heads for the 87 Maxima.....so we can get the guy's car running fast ASAP!

He's a 5 spd manual that I helped install a few years back....I know he was getting rubber in 1,2,& 3....It was pretty fast and I'm going too try to take him a little more north performance wise or as far as his wallet will permit! Those 2nd gen M/T Maxima are light as hell and an intake, exhaust, cam, ignition (another Mallory setup) and ECU flash from JWT.....This should make his car a 14 sec 1/4 mile car with ease/no problems!!!! I think that car might weight 2750-2900 lbs....

Tell me more about the Mallory setup your using. I have been thinking about upgrading the ignition system in the Mac after I get all the problems sorted out with the electrical system.

The signal from the capacitive factory ignitor is a positive and negative back to the ignition box, and sending the signal back to the ignition coil ! really easy....I made a little harness cause the coil needs not to be to close to the ign box!!!!
