Lowered 2nd Gen camber adjustment
For those of you that have a lowered 2nd Gen Maxima, were you able to get your camber set properly with factory cam bolt adjusters? Or did you have to purchase aftermarket camber bolt adjusters?
Thank you.

i dont know if you live where it snows, but winter was brutal. everywhere i went in winter i would scrape and bottom out
summer wasnt too bad, on fresh speedbumps i had to crawl over at a angle and even then you could hear the exhaust just barely scrape sometimes. potholes and rough roads sucked too but that comes with the territory of being lowered. otherwise it handled awesome and looked good being that low
if you live where theres little to no snow, i wouldnt worry.

dont have many pics left, this one was before it went to the junkyard hence no headlights etc. you can kinda see how low it is
other thing was the oil pan was a bit too low to the ground for comfort but it never even got a dent in it

Yes Sir, http://www.ebay.com/itm/180739918504...84.m1497.l2649
I was told that the sleeves from a civic would work. Also one of my buddies suggested I use s13 coilovers. I do not have coilover money right at this point but I will be trying it soon. I def will post pics of the install on my build thread

Any update on the sleeves? I want to install these KYB's I just need to know if sleeves are going to be a better choice then cut springs. If not I'll just slap the KYB's on with couple inches hacked off the springs until I get some s13 coilovers to mount to it.

Got the sleeves today, I mocked them one up on a spare strut assembly I have, I have to do more cutting and grinding but that gives you a basic idea. I had to grind down the strut cartridge cap, I cut off the spring perch, grinded the welds so they were flatter/ cleaner looking, I would like to weld the sleeves on, I will probably do that. Here are some pics. Im my 2nd gen I have KYB AGX, they are from a MR2 and I cut and welded the tube to account for the shortness, a spacer could be used to accomplish the same thing.

damnnnnn that actually looks ****ing legit. I might consider doing this since they are only $50 off ebay.
So is that the actual 2nd gen strut or is that the strut off a different car?
Just curious of how much fab work is actually needed to work with 2nd gen struts. I'll be putting these on 2nd gen Maxima KYB AGX's if It would work the same.

I think I might go with these 88-91 0-4" adjustable sleeves
they are marked for adjustment and allow up to 4" drop. I want as much low as I can get without sitting on bags.
Post some pics up when you get them on the Maxi. I want to see how it sits lowered at 3"

just because it says it can lower up to 4" doesnt' mean you should. totally FUBARs suspension and steering geometry when you go that low. You also run out of shock travel so you're running on the bumpstops all the time. car rides and handles like crap.
also note you'll quit likely run out of chassis travel. lowered 2.5", my 3rd gen rubs the inside of the front and rear fender wells under hard bumps. I destroyed my engine bay wiring harness once when it rubbed against my left side tire. had to repair the harness and reroute it so it was higher in the wheel well.
Remember, going lower brings a lot more complications than just scraping the pavement. Nissan's engineers didn't design the car to run that low, so you have to redesign a lot of the car to make that happen.

I'm fully aware of all the implications you have brought to attention. That's why bags will always be a better choice for this circumstance. A complete redesign of the suspension on an air bag system will allow me to achieve whatever I want when I want it. But for now some coil sleeves will do just fine on this car.
I'm not much concerned about damaging a car that I wouldn't get much more then $600 for if I were to sell it. I'm doing it to have fun until I buy my next project car.

I hate my second Gen on S13 coilovers up front, lowering springs for a B13 in the rear (do not do this spring). Afterwards, I went back to stock springs cut one coil all around.
The S13 coilovers mounted up almost exactly. I used two front Cusco coils. They were old and one clunked, rode like ****. But it was great for a test fit and run. I had to slot one strut tower bolt, and cut the brake line tab off of the coilover body since it would hit the frame rail on full lock. I wish I documented this better, but it was last summer and it was hot when I did it.
The rear springs was a terrible idea, but for free I tried it. Blew the shocks in 5 miles.
Stock Height.
Cusco/Megan set up
Brand new KYBs with one coil cut all around

This is the look I'm essentially going for. Maybe a tad lower. I have brand new KYB GR-2's ready for install. And I just ordered a set of the Civic coilover sleeves. I figure for $60, if I don't like it I can say **** it and put the stock springs on with some cut coils and call it a day.
So you didn't like the s13's because they rode like ****? What kind of coils were they and what condition were they in? If they were blown I can imagine them riding like crap.

The coilovers were blown as I stated, Im sure with a good pair up front it would have been better. But ended up selling the car before I was able to put together a better setup.
Right now Im busy with my Cressida. If I get bored, I will be going back to a second gen.
Actually, my mind changes all the time. I want a second gen. lol

Well I got my sleeves and my KYB's but the sleeves don't fit over the KYB's. They are literally 1mm to small from being able to slide over the shock tube. I'm so annoyed right now.
So I was just going to cut the springs but when I went to remove the old strut assembly I couldn't get the bottom bolt out of the strut knuckle. I heated, PB'd and hammered the **** out of it. To no Avail, it wouldn't budge. I have work early in the morning and need the car so I opted to just put it back together for right now.
Not sure what to do at this point. Curse this car for being so stubborn.
