That's a lot of grinding... Is it really necessary to grind that much?

It's a KYB GR-2. Stock replacement.

I'm not sure about the grinding that needs to be done. I have mr2 front and rear strut cartridges in my stock housings and all I had to grind off was the spring perch and the cap that holds the strut in.

Yeah, I ground of the spring perch on mine but it still won't fit. I'm going to try heating the coil sleeves to about 250deg F and then see if the expansion will allow it to fit over the strut housing.

Haha that's what I got. I got the sleeves on and it doesn't lower it as much as you would think. It's kinda upsetting. It may lower it like an inch.

Post some pictures. From what I've measured it should drop it at least 2 inches. Probably close to 3. If it doesn't drop it as much as I want I'll just cut a coil or 2 off the sleeve spring.

yeah, that's lower but it still needs more low. I'll put mine on as soon as it warms up. I've decided if I can't get enough low out of it, I'll cut the thread off and build a custom perch lower then the stock and just rock the spring from the coil sleeve kit. That should get me the low I need.

it would ride like absolute **** without a shock. I am going to be running 240sx coilovers soon so we will see how low I can go.

I wouldn't lower the perch enough to eliminate the shock. Probably just an inch lower then it would sit. It all depends on how it looks once I get mine installed. I may just hack a coil off the aftermarket spring and put it back on if it isn't low enough. I honestly don't care how it rides. It's already got a bouncy **** ride right now as it is.

nope. It's like 8deg F outside. I'm waiting for warmer weather before I get them on. I'll have pics for sure when it's done though.
