Finally putting my hands on the Max!!

Yesterday I was itching to get another project car to start working on. Instead of going to buy yet another car, I decided to turn my attention to the 1988 Nissan Maxima that sat in the garage since 1994. It had to get pulled, literally, out the garage so the garage door installers could put up a new door. Every since it has been calling my name to get it running. So yesterday, that's just what I did. Found out it runs only starter fluid because fuel isn't reaching the engine. The fuel pump wasn't running so I checked all electrical components and those checked out. I suspected the fuel pump was no good because of how bad it was. I pulled the fuel pump out and to say it was a mess is an understatement. The tank is all rusted on the inside too. So both items will need to be replaced. I'll post pictures when I get a chance. I'll try to keep this thread updated as I make progress with it. It's a piece of my childhood that I don't want to see get hauled away on a flat bed. Plus I like Nissan waaaay too much, specifically Maxima's.

This is after I pulled the back seats out to get to the fuel pump and see what I'd be dealing with.

I definitely thought these screws were going to give me trouble, but with a little power lube, it was a breeze.

That has to go, new stuff coming in future. New tank and Walbro 225 fuel pump for later on in my build. Let the festivities begin.

No sir, this is one car I won't let go. It's a auto for now, I'm looking to change it to a 5-speed later on. Gotta take care of the other things first, lol.

I haven't neglected the car if you're wondering. I've just been busy with school and work. I'm looking into getting a new tank in a bit and I need to find a fuel pump and sender assembly.
