rough idle, little to no power

91 Maxima GXE, 136k

Just recently, I put some super unleaded in my tank, ideally, to compensate for the lower octane medium grade unleaded gas that I use at times.
The following day, I started my car to find my engine making a chugging sound (missing) and white smoke coming from the exhaust.
Shortly thereafter, I thought I would drive my car a little, hoping the problem would be corrected. Anyway, got three houses down and the engine died. Upon this, I was not able to start my car for a while.
About ten minutes later, I was able to start my car. Again, the same chugging sound and white smoke. I thought to myself, I must have bad gas. So I disconnected the gas line from the engine (coming from the fuel filer) and saw that the engine was getting a healthy supply of fuel. That evening, I poured a container of HEET into my gas tank. The following morning, I started my car and the engine sounded perfect. A few minutes later, the engine started missing again, and later died. I don't know what to think of my engine problem and would appreciate advice on the matter.
Thanks in advance, Bryce.

If it is white smoke then it is probably a cracked block and coolant is getting into one of the cylinders and being burned off (White smoke = Steam).

If it was a blown head gasket he would probably just lose compression right? No smoke or anything dramatic coming out of the exhaust?
