Production Numbers

I was interested in knowing the production numbers for the 87-88 model Maximas. I have a 88 SE 5 speed and wanted to know how many were made VS other models. I haven't found any info on the internet.

That would be a tough nut to crack. There just isn't that much out there on 2nd gen Maximas, as I have looked as well.

I have an '87 5-speed. One thing you might consider is changing out the gear oil. At around 150K, the tranny seemed a little...balky. Figuring it probably had the original oil in it, I did my research and settled on Royal Purple 75W-90 synthetic. REALLY made a difference, all the balkiness went away, and now at 192K, she still shifts like butter. Love rowing through the gears!!

Thanks for reminding me of that, mine has 165 right now. Need to get the back up lights working and should change that out. I recall seeing that purple stuff somewhere but didn't take a good mental note as to were. Had a friend who didn't change his out in a Toyota and his differential broke under norm driving. He was a fanatic about keeping his fluids clean and I felt bad for him at the time, that trams was boxed in with the frame and to fix it the engine had to come out he was so upset he sold the car.

Changing out the tranny oil is easy, just need a long funnel. Fills through the speedo cable hole on top of the tranny. Capacity is 5 qts.
