Help needed to open trunk of '87 Maxima

We've had an '87 Maxima sitting idle in a garage for well over 15 years and it's time to unload it. We believe that there's some stuff in the trunk that we need to clear out, but the only key we can find won't open the trunk. I can't find any latch inside to open the trunk. This wasn't my car, so I'm hoping I'm just missing something obvious. Any advice?

Thanks!

on the left of the steering wheel there should be a small switch with a car on it( to the right of the security light on this car). all it needs is power to get it to work(battery or jump starter connected to the battery terminals). it is in the same location on both digital and analog clusters

You could also fold down the rear seats.

you can fold down the rear seats crawl into the trunk and there is a lever on the left side of the latch, has a black cover from the factory that might still be on it.
