glove box light help

I noticed my light is out in my glove box. Bulb appeared to fine but I changed it anyway but still nothing. I also checked the harness connection on the back of the box and it was plugged in all the way and all other interior lights seem to be good and interior light fuse was good which I believe is the second one up from the bottom on the left side. Is it possible the little contact switch that plugs into the harness on the back of the glove box can go bad? Or does this light run on a different circuit? Any help or input is appreciated. Thanks.

see with a voltmeter if youre getting power to where the bulb fits in. if no, go a bit further back from the connector and see if youre getting power in the wiring there. if you get power to the wiring a foot away from the connector, the connector is most likely bad. if you get no power in the wiring, need a wiring diagram and trace it back

Thanks Chrome, That makes sense. I guess I was hoping for a simpler solution lol and was wondering if the contact button for the glove box itself that opens and closes the connection tends to go bad or if that was a common issue but i will check to make sure it's getting power first. Also noticed I put put this thread in the wrong section and should be in the 3rd Gen section.

If you look on the switch for the glovebox light, it has 2 wires on it. One of the wires is black - this is ground. The other wire is red/green stripe - this wire comes from the light bulb. If you short these 2 wires together, the lamp will light if the problem is a bad switch.

NOTE - the glove box lamp gets power from the dash lights, so you have to have the parking or head lights on.

Thanks Dennis, This is also good to know. I was just replacing my digital climate control with another i picked up from a yard in hopes it was better than the one i had which kept going dim intermittently which made it difficult to read and i guess i lucked out because the one i got from the yard was good and bright. Anyhow i took out the glove box to help with access to it and thats when i noticed the glove box light wasn't coming on. I did turn the key to acc to see if that was my problem but i didnt realize the headlights needed to be on aswell? I will check with the headlights on and if that doesn't work maybe i'll try checking it by putting the 2 wires together to see if i have a bad switch.
