Just found a clean 1988 Maxima I want to flush out the transmission because they put in the wrong one that’s why they sold it so what is the recommended transmission fluid for an 88 Maxima and how do you flush out the old one thank you much appreciated

 

ATF, ATF3 and ATFdexron/mecron 4...Straight ATF is the norm. You can upgrade to synthetic as well it last longer. I usually buy my transmission fluids and motor oils from Walmart cause the same product at O'rielly, Autozone, Advanced are usually $8-10 more. I use Valvoline Max Life come in the red containers it's ATF, ATF3 and ATF4 compatible....
