Moonroof Noise?

I have an 86se...

I don't use my Moonroof much, but have a question about closing it.
When trying to fully close it, with your finger still on the switch to close, does it CHATTER in the fully closed position? (motor still running)

I just don't remember if the motor stops automatically, even if you are still pressing the close switch.

I was closing the Moonroof the other day and it came to a stop in the fully closed position without CHATTERING, even with my finger still pressing the switch to close. What's this, (press, press, press) still no noise!!! I think that's how it's supposed to work.

So it stopped automatically. The motor shut down. That got me thinking since it was making the chatter noise for so long, don't remember how it normally works.

OK everyone, open your moonroof, then close it, let me know how yours work.

TIA , AL

Re: Moonroof Noise?

My 85 SE has always made a clicking sound after it closes untill I take my finger off the switch.

I have a 86 maxima and i got it like 7 months ago. it came into my hand all messed up and dirty as hell but i fixed it up so it's some what better now... anyways the sunroof didn't work when i recieve the car and when ever i pressed on da button to open it it wouldn't move but the motor would make a slipping gear noise... so i decied to take off the switch part and found that the three of the four screws that holds the motor up to put it in gear were gone... i replaced the screws and wa la the sunroof opened up... the sorry thing is that when ever the sunroof opens or closes all the way it still make that clicking noise (slipping gear noise) so i would also like to know if the car is suppose to do that...
