WTT B&G drop springs for stock SE springs

Like the title says, anyone want to trade their stock SE springs for some B&G 1.6 inch drop springs?

The stock springs must be in decent shape, not all rusted up with the paint all peeled off please.

Lets say your se springs and $40?

I have stock SE springs, not sure how to judge their shape except that its "spring-like", lol. They were on the car for 118K.

I dont need B&G springs though. How about those extra hydraulic lifters, or maybe something else to compensate for the cost of shipping springs to you?

You probably dont want to get stuck holding the B&G springs, so wait it out let me know.

Well mike, if you want the lifters in exchange for the springs, that will be fine with me. it's up to you.

they have been soaking in fresh oil for a few months now.

Damn, wish I still had my parts car, all the springs on that thing were basically new OE replacements and I'd love to have a pair of B&G's to throw on the max. Oh well, what's up with your B&G's btw, if you don't mind me asking? Just sick of the rough ride? Thought about going eibach?

Nothing is wrong with the springs, but yeah i'm just growing tired of the rough ride. I realized how crappy my car rode after taking the wifeys gxe(bone stock suspension) down to florida a few weeks ago, it was nice to not have a bone jarring smack over bumps/ pot holes/uneven road surfaces, etc.

I guess i'm just getting to old for all that crap, i just want a nice smooth ride for a while, without risk of whiplash and no, i don't want eibachs either.

Wanna trade your old injectors for the B&G's? I'd hook you up with the springs from my car, but i'll need those until I get around to swapping meh struts and springs. You probably need to avoid downtime too though. Just a thought, I know you wanted the injectors back awhile ago..

I have B&G's and love them.... but I though that springs don't REALLY create a stiff ride on their own....but more of a spring/strut combo that determines ride characteristics. So maybe ride quality is stiff because of your struts? I find my ride quality to be pretty unforgiving as well, but I have koni's at 50% stiff. Are you saying that I could just change the springs and soften up the ride?

If it IS springs that cause my stiff suspension, what are a nice set of lowering springs that also offer a smooth ride over bumps?

From Alfa Romeo forum:

I just talked to the lead tech over at B&G and he said he'd try to get me the graph for S2 springs on a 3G Maxima. While he couldn't give me the exact range for spring-rate, he could tell me that it's an average of 20-25% stiffer than stock. He also noted that they design springs for cars to be daily drivers, and not strict track use. So when you try to go over to other brands they will be just as stiff or more. He recommended softening up the shocks (if you have koni's like me...) and seeing if it helped. Also keep in mind that any poly bushings will stiffen up the ride.

I appreciate all the fresh info there mang, but i just want to go back to a nice soft ride, not delve into the metallurgy/spring rates of my b&g's or any other crap like that.

I know i could do some experimenting with different struts and probably make the ride better, but i am simply done dumping $$$ into this car. Just regular maintenance from here on out.

Very tempting. Have a set sitting in the garage now from eibach drop. I'll get back to you Greeny.

Just have to imagine what that ride could be like on these NYC roads.

I have a recently wrecked 89se, getting to the springs feels like a big challenge, because then it will have nothing to sit on. If you are willing to wait about a week, I can work to get to them. They are 89se springs, so they are old, but as far as I know only the struts were bad and the paint is not coming off, maybe one mark of rust etc. As far as I know, se springs never changed. $50+shipping for the set, and I obviously don't need your trade because my car is destroyed... Interested?
