1994 Auto tranny, Pacific NW

I have a VG30E engine and the automatic transmission is a RE4F02A. The tranny was completely overhauled at 150km. It now has 200KM. It recently quit when I pulled out to pass a car. It downshifted, there was a slight noise, and i had no gears at all...NOTHING. A couple of people have said it was my torque converter, but they never looked at it to reach that conclusion, they just guessed from my description of what happened. So it could be anything.

I have the original invoice from the tranny shop that did a complete overhaul/rebuild for $3500. This rebuild has 30K miles on it, or 50,000Km. I would hope that there are still lots of usuable parts in there. Hopefully somebody that knows their way around an automatic tranny will be able to fix this easily.

I see some people say these aren't very good trannies. Our local Pick-A-Apart had 2 3rdGen Maximas for about a year. Both of them still had the trannies. So if they're not that good, then why are they not all cleaned out at the junkyards???? Because they are not that bad, that's why.

I see the rebuilders want $300-400 for the cores on these. I only want $100 for mine. OR, make me an offer. Also included is the torque converter. I live in BC, Canada, very close to WA state border.
